High tea on farm

Meeting the men and women of the mountains: every week groups leave with guides to visit the alpine chalets and high pastures where they are given a friendly welcome by the farmers and herdsmen.

You will taste the delicious Abondance AOC (guaranteed origin) cheese, and flavoursome cold meats made on the mountain: hams, sausages; or enjoy a mountain sandwich with new-made butter and a thick layer of freshly culled bilberry jam. Savour it all with a glass of milk fresh from the cow, or a delicious cup of coffee or a soup made with streaky bacon that has simmered on the hob all afternoon.
Before serving you, the farmers will show you something of their way of life, handed down over the generations.

They will explain how the famous Abondance cheese is made (AOC - Guaranteed Origin and Quality). You will go through the stables, watched by the beautiful "black spectacles", and into the hay barn with its delicious smell of summer. And after this fascinating visit, you will thoroughly enjoy a sandwich made with fresh mountain butter spread with a goodly layer of bilberry jam. Watch the farmer as he takes the mountain ham and smoked sausage down from their hooks in the chimney and cuts slices for you with his traditional Opinel knife. And you will finish the visit with a cup of delicious coffee or a glass of fresh milk, before making your way back to the village leaving your footprints behind you in the crisp snow.
